Naruto (Chapter 4-7)

Chapter 4

Nice cover page. And nice foreshadowing.

Team 7, let’s go! I laughed so hard at Naruto’s booby trap.

So everyone has to introduce themselves. Kakashi didn’t say anything apart from his full name.

Naruto’s introduction. We don’t learn anything new of course. Notice that Naruto does not say that he loves Sakura. He isn’t that shallow.

Sasuke doesn’t say much, but his goals are interesting. Restore the Uchiha Clan and kill someone. To be honest I totally forgot that he wanted to restore his clan.

Yeah, Sakura is shallow as fuck. The only thing she said is that she loves Sasuke and hates Naruto. Why does she want to become a ninja? Why didn’t Kishimoto give her the goal to become a legendary kunoichi like Tsunade? I know, that’s Tenten’s goal, who cares? Tsunade can inspire a lot of women to become a kunoichi.

If only Kishimoto knew how to write female characters...

How many ninjas are there in Konoha? Probably around 10k-20k soldiers. But with only 27 new students, you can’t have that many ninjas. Maybe there are other classes or academies? And 66% students having to go back to the academy if they fail a test with their Sensei is stupid. Why don't you make the tests in chapter one harder to avoid that?

Kakashi is always late. That’s a running gag in the manga that I still find funny.

Team 7’s first trial. But the stakes are ridiculous, I mean, going back to the academy seriously?

Chapter 5

As Kakashi knows where Sasuke and Sakura are, I don't think Naruto's methods are wrong. There's no point in hiding if your opponent knows where you are.

Naruto? With your spiky blond hair, you're the last person who should be saying that.

What the hell, Kakashi? We learn here that Kakashi loves to read erotic romance novels, which is quite interesting for a ninja. It’s always nice to see characters that are not bland or characterized with only one trait (hello Black Clover). Of course, Naruto is pissed.

What the hell, Kakashi? Again. Like Sasuke said, “they’re both buffoons!”.

Even if he was tired and hungry, Naruto performed the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu, then pulled a surprise attack against Kakashi. Despite being immature, Naruto is quite clever. Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi were all impressed by Naruto’s strategy. That’s the first step for Naruto’s road to Hokage.

Unfortunately for Naruto, Kakashi is an elite ninja.

Chapter 6

Naruto thought Kakashi used the art of transformation to change into a Naruto clone. So all the clones started to fight among themselves. Naruto then decided to stop his clone technique after a funny fight against himself.

Sasuke then explained that Kakashi used the art of substitution. And also, what is the scroll of ninjutsu? I want to have a look at it!

Naruto's intelligence is... inconsistant. Sometimes he has a genius plan. And sometimes he does stupid things like falling in an obvious trap.

Kakashi's genjutsu on Sakura was horrible. The anime tones it down but the manga outright involved dismemberment (notSasuke doesn't have his left hand). It comes as no surprise that Sakura freaked out and fainted at the sight of it. Kakashi is savage!

Then Kakashi easily defeated both Naruto and Sakura. Naruto got caught in a trap and Sakura saw an illusion in which Sasuke was almost dead. Sasuke thinks he can beat Kakashi, is he right? (spoiler: of course not)

Chapter 7

Kakashi vs Sasuke. Is Sasuke going to win? Even Kakashi looks forward to this fight.

Holy shit, Sasuke is really stronger than Naruto (and Sakura, but that was obvious). Sasuke is quite impressive. He seems to be both strong and clever. He even managed to touch one bell. Kakashi can’t read his book when he fights against Sasuke.
