Eyeshield 21 (Chapters 26-30)

Chapter 26

Previously in Eyeshield 21. Hiruma has just arranged a practice match against the Zokugaku Chameleons, a team notorious for dirty play and led by linebacker Rui Habashira, who has extremely long arms.

Eyeshield 21 vs Habashira Rui! Will Sena be able to snap out of his fear and achieve victory for the Deimon Devil Bats?

That's well too much over the top! Who would even want to study or teach there?

Habashira prepares a strategy against Eyeshield 21, but he didn't plan that Deimon would recruit Monta, the Wide Receiver!

When there were only Hiruma and Kurita on the team, they made Rice-kun because Hiruma couldn't find anyone to practice passing with him.

I still don't understand why Hiruma, Kurita and Musashi didn't join a high school with an American Football club, even a weak one. It is a huge plothole.

Hiruma is happy because his position requires him to pass. He's been training hard and he's very good at it. But up until now, he hasn't had the chance to use it properly. Now he can pass to Monta!

Therefore Rice-kun is no longer needed and every member of the team destroys it! Even Mamori!

Chapter 27

I love this page! Deimon is so funny!

Monta easily recognises Eyeshield 21's true identity unlike Mamori. Sena apologises because he didn't want to trick Monta. But he was afraid that if he told him the truth, Monta'll quit American Football.

But Monta decided to be a receiving expert in American Football and he'll keep his promise!

Hiruma sure knows how to piss off his enemies!

In the first chapter, the three bullies chased Sena who managed to escape from them. Hiruma took photos of them naked so they had to spend their lives in the shadows. The bullies are searching for negatives in the club office, but Kurita thought they wanted to join the team!

Deimon Devil Bats vs Zokugaku Chameleons begins! If Deimon wins, they can use it as propaganda and lots of people will join them. Plus they can make 5 million yen for funds!

Chapter 28

The game starts, Zokugaku uses the "firecracker kick" to prevent Eyeshield 21 from catching the ball.

Monta catches the ball then he tries to pass it to Sena, but he has bad accuracy... However, Monta impressed many people with his receiving skills!

A brief summary of the rules.

Deimon scored zero touchdowns by passing in their match against Ojo, so Zokugaku thought that Deimon didn't have any decent Wide Receiver. They were wrong.

Hiruma does one of the most common forms of deception, a play action pass. In this type of play, after the snap the quarterback appears to hand the ball to the halfback, who will then simulate running with the ball. Still in possession of the ball, the quarterback will then attempt to complete a pass play.

A play action pass can be effective in bringing linebackers and even defensive backs up close to the line of scrimmage in hopes of stopping a run, leaving receivers with more room to run routes and catch the ensuing pass.

"Honjou... Although I haven't got any better in baseball, I'll make a promise with you. I definitely will become a hero through American Football!" Monta

Chapter 29

Hiruma is officially a Tsundere.

Hiruma is a bad kicker. Kurita says "If only Musashi was here", while Hiruma replies they'll just have to touchdown twice as much.

Zokugaku scored a touchdown and an extra point with a kick. The difference between the kickers' skills is enough to give Zokugaku an advantage.

"Changing tactics according to the enemy's strengths and weaknesses. Battles have always favored the side attacking last!" Habashira from Zokugaku

"Just anticipating the enemy won't do any good. The first side to see through the enemy's battle plans wins!" Hiruma from Deimon

Habashira's plan seems quite intelligent at first, but Zokugaku doesn't really have the talent to stop either Eyeshield 21 or Monta. And Deimon has other players than them, like Ishimaru!

Ishimaru, the first Phantom Player!

Zokugaku decided to crush Deimon with foul plays. I honestly don't know how the referee didn't see that. Referees are stupid (like in the real world unfortunately).

Despite those foul plays, Sena is fine as he has played against much stronger players, those from Ojo White Knights!

Deimon now has to find three replacements. The team doesn't have many players, so Hiruma decided to use the "Huh Huh Bros."

Bad Zokugaku vs Bad Deimon. And the winner is Bad Deimon!

Finally, Hiruma hands the ball to Eyeshield 21. Sena vs Habashira will start next chapter!

Chapter 30

And Habashira sucks, at least compared to Shin.

So Sena easily destroys Habashira. In the anime, Habashira stopped multiple times Sena before this duel. But in the manga, it wasn't even a contest. Sena easily destroys Habashira and scores a touchdown.

The baseball team wants to use the field, so they are waiting for the end of the match. But... isn't the baseball field completely different from the American Football one? Whatever, they came to encourage Raimon Taro (Monta), the hero receiver!
