Chapter 74
I love Temari. Intelligent, strong, her whole character doesn’t revolve around a man. She is confident unlike for instance Sakura and Hinata. It seems that she doesn't need to be protected. Moreover, when Gaara killed some guys in the Forest of Death, she waved goodbye to them. That girl is awesome. Why can't Kishimoto write his female characters more like Temari?
That's an obvious foreshadowing.
Shikamaru and Kin Tsuchi are selected for the sixth match.
Shikamaru immediately tries to catch Kin with his shadow, but she dodges and retaliates by throwing senbon at him.
Shikamaru throws a shuriken at Kin, who, forced to copy his movements, does the same.
Chapter 75
When the smoke clears Akamaru stands beside a defeated Naruto. Akamaru returns to Kiba but immediately bites him, being Naruto in disguise.
And a shadow clone restrains the real Akamaru.
Chapter 76
Kiba tosses a pill to Akamaru, giving him the strength to escape the shadow clone's grasp.
Hinata loves Naruto because he is confident and does his best to stand up for himself. Hinata is shy and insecure, so she wants to be as confident as him. Naruto is her role model. Hinata is revealed to be the first one to acknowledge Naruto since they were children. Hinata is sweet.
Naruto turns himself into another Kiba to try and confuse Kiba and Akamaru. Sakura is amazed by Naruto's strategy!
Chapter 77
Thinking he has made a mistake, Kiba attacks the second Kiba, assuming it is Naruto in disguise but it turned out to be the real Akamaru.
But Naruto's strategy was even better than Sakura initially thought! When Kiba attacks Naruto, the first look-a-like, Naruto turns himself into Akamaru to turn them against each other.
Naruto will now end the fight with his new killer move!
Naruto's new technique is... Sasuke's earlier move. Even the name is almost identical.
Previously in Naruto. Seven teams managed to pass, which was more than twice as many as had been expected. To cut down the prevailing genin from the second exam, a preliminary round was staged before the third and final stage of the Chūnin Exams. Sasuke, Shino, Kankuro and Temari were the winner of the five first bouts (Ino and Sakura's fight was a draw). It is now the sixth round match!
Temari defeats Tenten easily and swiftly, with all of Tenten's projectile weapons being rendered useless against her wind techniques.
Lee doesn't like the way Temari treats her opponent and attacks her. But Gaara stops the fight and calls Lee a "homely little prince charming."
"My dear friends from Suna. If you don't mind, I'd like to offer a word of advice. Be prepared. You have no idea how strong this boy really is." Gai to Gaara and his siblings.
Sakura being kind to the others is the best Sakura. Bully Sakura is annoying.
Despite being annoyed about this, Shikamaru is always fighting girls.
Shikamaru avoids them only to be distracted by a sound behind him.
He finds that there are bells attached to the senbon which, in turn, are attached to strings that Kin can use to ring them from a distance. She attacks him with her Senbons, but then finds she is paralysed.
Shikamaru sneaks his shadow over to her via the strings' shadows. I don't know if Shikamaru was clever there or Kin was stupid.
"But only one of us was close enough to the wall to give herself a concussion! The shuriken were just a distraction, so you wouldn't notice where you were standing." Shikamaru
It was a nice battle, I like Shikamaru's strategies! He is also one of my favorite characters in the series. However, it is disappointing to see that the females characters are... weak. Ino, Sakura, Tenten and Kin. Fortunately, there is Temari!
Naruto and Kiba Inuzuka are chosen for the seventh match.
"Animals [...] are the same as any other weapons and tools." That's not very animal-friendly.
Kiba remembers what a terrible student Naruto was and claims that his fight will be an easy victory. But Kiba forgot that Naruto managed to pass the second part of the Exam like the others.
... Did people really think Naruto would lose like that? I know that he is the underdog, but come on.
Naruto wants to outshine even the Hokage and then all the villagers will have to acknowledge his existence at last. Sakura, Sasuke and Kakashi acknowledge him, but the others still don't.
"That's right. I used to mock those words too, thinking that Naruto was just a swaggering fool full of hot air. But I was wrong! You show em, Naruto!" Sakura.
Naruto gets up and everyone is impressed. No, but seriously, did they really think Naruto would get knocked out from one hit?
Kiba throws a smoke bomb to block Naruto's vision while Akamaru attacks him.
The observers are all impressed by Naruto's tactics. Naruto is starting to be acknowledged by everyone!
"What kind of method did Kakashi use to teach him?" Kakashi only taught Naruto how to climb trees. That's pretty much it.
Kiba then turns Akamaru into a copy of himself, making them equally formidable and leaving Naruto unable to determine which is the real Kiba.
Naruto complains that it is doping and it should not be allowed. But military ration pellets are ninja tools. Kiba boasts that he is stronger than Naruto but uses doping to attempt to win. He is a arrogant and jerk, who also cheats in fight.
Even if he drive all of his chakra down into his legs, it still takes everything Naruto's got just to evade Kiba. But Kiba finally manages to hit Naruto.
Shut up, Kiba. You're a cheater.
Kiba, with his superior sense of smell, attacks the Kiba he believes to be the fake, but the Kiba turns into Akamaru after being hit.
It was a stupid joke, but I laughed.
Naruto is declared the winner, shocking all of his former classmates who, like Kiba, used to think he was an untalented idiot.
Hinata attempts again to give Naruto something. Kurenai then helped out Hinata, saying that it's an ointment, and that it could help Naruto recover from the injuries that Kiba caused. Naruto then thanks Hinata. Kurenai ships NaruHina.
Despite being both Hyuga, Neji seems to hate Hinata.
